PM Abiy, President Ruto visit Suswa Substation in Kenya’s Narok County

Addis Ababa, February 28, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) together with the President of Kenya William Ruto today made a familiarization tour of the Suswa Substation, Kajiado County, Kenya.

The KETRACO Converter Station is located in Suswa, Narok County, Kenya, where the export from Ethiopia’s Wolaita Sodo 500 KV HVDC Convertor Station ends.

The converter station is said to be part of 500KV HDVC Ethiopia-Kenya Transmission Project, touted as a vision 2030 flagship project.

The substation also facilitates cross-border transfer of electricity between Kenya and Ethiopia.

It is learned that the substation will soon serve Tanzania through the 400kV Isinya Substation.
