EEU announces a $45mln electricity infrastructure upgrading project
Addis Ababa, February 27, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) has announced infrastructure upgrading project to be carried out with a budget of 45 million USD.
The project will be implemented in ten selected towns with an aim to repair worn out transmission lines so as to address power outage and related problems in the electricity transmission system.
The electricity distribution system rehabilitation and upgrading scheme will be carried out in Nekemt, Ambo, Sululta, Bishoftu, Asella, Debre Birhan, Dilla, Hosaena, Assosa and Jigjiga towns.
The project includes installation of 195 new transformers, upgrading of 1,009 transformers and extension of 1,107 km of medium voltage power transmission lines.
