Digital Ethiopia Week kicks off
Addis Ababa, February 26, 2024 (FBC) – The inaugural “Digital Ethiopia Week” commenced with an overarching theme: “United Efforts for Digital Ethiopia.”
During the opening event, presentations were delivered on the mid-term activities of the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy and the progress of electronic government (e-government) initiatives.
While addressing the opening event, the Minister of State for Innovation and Technology, Yishrun Alemayehu, emphasized the substantial progress made towards achieving Digital Ethiopia 2025, particularly in the development of telecommunications infrastructure, system enhancements, fostering enabling ecosystems, and the advancement of human resources.
Furthermore, the State Minister highlighted that more than 526 government services have been seamlessly provided to the public electronically.
In the following days, consultations will be held on other key topics including science technology and innovation policy, district net (WoredaNet), e-commerce strategy, personal data protection, e-government strategy, government enterprise architecture, e-transaction decree, national data center, data management.
It is stated that the objective of Digital Ethiopia Week is to foster Ethiopia’s digital transformation initiatives and raise awareness within society regarding the utilization of digital technologies..
