Ethiopia, Republic of Korea explore ways to enhance trade, investment cooperation
Addis Ababa, February 21, 2024 (FBC) – State Minister for Political and Economic Diplomacy, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, earlier today conferred with Chung Byung-Won, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual concern.
The two sides discussed the first-ever Korea-Africa Summit which is to be held the coming June, economic cooperation, trade and people-to-people relations, among other things.
Speaking of the upcoming Summit, State Minister Mesganu, said the occasion will provide opportunities to review and further strengthen the already existing symbolic Ethio-Korea diplomatic ties.
The State Minister also said the symbolic relation must be transformed into visible, practical development achievements; trade, investment, and overall enhanced economic cooperation.
Deputy Minister, Chung Byung-Won concurred with the State Minister on the need for more practical steps towards making the special relation the two countries have, yield practical economic development.
The Deputy Minister also said that the upcoming Summit will provide opportunities to formulate win-win partnerships with African countries, scale up the bilateral relations into long-term strategic partnerships and usher in a substantial practical development cooperation.
Chung Byung-Won also called on the Ethiopian side to come up with necessary frameworks in various areas of cooperation to be signed during the Summit in order to achieve those practical strides in bilateral relations.
