A Forum on “Harnessing Digitalization for Africa’s Transformation” underway in Addis

Addis Ababa, February 17, 2024 (FBC) – A forum themed “Harnessing Digitalization for Africa’s Transformation” is taking place at the Adwa Victory Memorial in Addis Ababa on the sidelines of the 37th African Union Summit in attendance of President Sahle-Work Zewde, representatives of various countries and heads of international organizations.

In her opening remarks at the forum, President Sahle-Work highlighted the importance of the agenda of digitalization for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

President Sahle-Work stressed the need to leverage the potnetials of digitalization to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Ethiopia is implementing the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy to build digital economy, Sahle-Work said, announcing the ongoing efforts to increase access to telecom service, digital finance, artificial intelligence, and internet coverage nationwide.

She also highlighted the significance of digitalization in accelerating investment.

CEO of Ethio Telecom, Firehiwot Tamru, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Fourth Industrial Revolution Global Inititive, Landry Signe, Founder and CEO of MFS Africa, Dare Okoudjou and AI senior advisor to the Government of Ethiopia, Solomon Kassa, among others, are participating in the forum.
