Ministry hosts conference on building sustainable dev’t, solidarity in HoA
Addis Ababa, February 3, 2024 (FBC) – The Ministry of Peace is holding a conference to discuss regional peace building, sustainable development and mutual coexistence in the Horn of Africa in Dire Dawa city today.
The meeting is underway in collaboration with universities from Eastern Ethiopia and Hargeisa and Djibouti universities under the theme “The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Peace-building and Inclusive Development in Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somaliland.”
Minister of Peace Binalf Andualem, State Minister of Peace Kairedin Tezera, Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs of the House of Peoples Representatives, Dima Nogo, scholars from universities of Ethiopia, Hargeisa and Djibouti are participating at the conference.
At the conference, research papers, focusing on the peace and security situation in East Africa, common opportunities and threats as well as regional integration, sustainable development and peace building will be discussed.
The role of traditional conflict resolution systems and institutions in resolving local conflicts among others will also be deliberated.
