Ethiopia views sharing its resources with neighbors as a blessing – MoWE Minister
Addis Ababa, January 30, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia views sharing its resources with neighboring countries as a blessing, said Minister of Water and Energy Habtamu Itefa.
Ethiopia shares diversified ties with the countries of the Horn of Africa region. It will continue to work to ensure mutual development by utilizing its resources together, the Minister insisted.
Ethiopia shares all its available resources because it aspires to achieve mutual development with neighboring countries.
In an exclusive interview with FBC, Habtamu said Ethiopia’s supply of clean drinking water and electric power to the neighboring countries is testament to the country’s commitment to mutual prosperity.
Through the Adigala-Djibouti project, Ethiopia is working to provide more than 100 thousand cubic meters of clean drinking water to Djibouti daily, he reminded.
Habtamu also mentioned that Somalia requested for supply of clean drinking water and electric power supply from Ethiopia Somalia. He also indicated that preparations are being made to meet this demand.
In addition to drinking water projects, Ethiopia’s cooperation with neighboring countries in various development fields is of paramount importance to deepen the people-to-people relations and strengthen the development engagements of the region, the Minister articulated.
According to him, Ethiopia’s diplomatic relations with neighboring countries are based on the principle of cooperation and give and take.
