MoFA convenes third round preparatory meeting for upcoming AU Summit

Addis Ababa, January 9, 2024 (FBC) – The National Committee held its third round of meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, assessing the preparatory work for the 37th African Union Summit and the 44th Executive Council meeting to be held in Addis Ababa next month.

The meeting was attended by stakeholders who presented reports on their activities performed in the previous month in accordance with their work plan, which was established in the first round of the meeting.

The reports covered activities in areas such as health, security, beautification and greenery, hospitality, transportation, media coverage, and basic services.

Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the National Committee, urged all stakeholders to complete their activities as per the schedule.

Ambassador Birtukan went on to say that the Ministry is collaborating closely with the African Union and members of the national committee to ensure the summit’s success.

Appreciating the concerned institutions for the activities that have been done so far, Ambassador Birtukan has set directions for the activities to be carried out until January 22, 2024.
