Pan African Parliament Conference kicks off in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, December 28, 2023 (FBC) – The 49th Pan African Parliament Conference which focused on women’s rights is taking place at the House of People’s Representatives hall in Addis Ababa.

Members of Women’s Caucuses of the House of Representatives are participating in a conference which is also aimed at exploring the ways of scaling up women’s leadership skill and empowering influential African women and protecting the rights of women at all levels.

President of the Pan African Parliament, Ashebir Woldegiworgis (PhD) explained that the purpose of the conference is to explore mechanisms that can help enhance the decision-making role of women.

Amina Tidiani Yaya, Chairperson of the Women’s Caucus of the Pan-African Parliament, said that the conference will have a paramount significance in identifying and addressing legal and policy gaps particularly in the protection of African women’s rights.
