MoWSA, Gallaudet University ink MoU to advance empowerment of people with disabilities
Addis Ababa, December 19, 2023 (FBC) – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs of Ethiopia and Gallaudet University in Washington DC.
The MoU, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington, D.C., seeks to advance the empowerment and inclusion of people with disabilities, particularly those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind.
Both parties reaffirmed that the MoU is evidence of shared commitment to building a more inclusive, equitable, and accessible society where people with disabilities can live with dignity and enjoy their human rights as well as contribute to the social and economic advancement of their respective nations, the Embassy disclosed.
It is believed that signing the MoU represents a major advancement in the collaborative efforts to build a society that is more accessible and inclusive of people with disabilities.
The partnership will serve as a model and inspiration for other universities and institutions to follow and join in this noble cause
