Association of Ethiopian Diplomats established, said crucial to defend national interests

Addis Ababa, December 1, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Diplomats Association, which includes former and veteran ambassadors, diplomats, and currently serving professionals of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who have served and presently serving their country in various positions for a long time, was established yesterday.

In his remarks during the launching event, State Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, stated that the association is important for the protection of national interests of Ethiopia.

Ambassador Mesganu said that the association will contribute to the foreign service by researching, showing policy directions, and training young people to transfer knowledge.

Veteran diplomats who attended the General Assembly of the association said that the formation of such professional association would allow for the development of diplomatic skills and wisdom and the strengthening of social ties between professionals.

It has also been stated that the establishment of the Ethiopian Diplomats Association will enable professional contribution in an organized manner and protect the national interests of the country.

The General Assembly of the Ethiopian Diplomats Association has concluded by electing the leaders to lead the association.
