Prime Minister Abiy holds bilateral discussion with Cuba’s Vice President
Addis Ababa, November 22, 2023 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) held a bilateral discussion with Cuba’s Vice President, Salvador Valdez Mesa.
The two sides explored strengthened cooperation in the medical sector, tourism services, education and sugar industries.
Recall that the Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa arrived in Bole International Airport for a working visit on Sunday 19 November.
On Monday 20 November 2023, Salvador Antonio Valdés laid a wreath at the Ethio-Cuba Friendship Square. During the occasion, the Vice President said the Ethiopian-Cuban relationship is historical and forever linked with sacrifices of brotherhood, which the people and Government of Cuba are proud of.
He pointed out that the Cuban soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1977–78 Ethiopia–Somalia war were martyred for the sake of their second homeland.
Mr. Jantrar Abay, the Deputy Mayor of the Addis Ababa city administration, attended the ceremony, and he welcomed the Vice President of Cuba and his delegation to Addis Ababa. Members of the Ethio-Cuban friendship and the Ethiopian students who studied in Cuba attended the ceremony.
