UNFPA Executive Director arrives in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, October 30, 2023 (FBC) – The Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Dr. Natalia Kanem, has arrived in Addis Ababa to review the progress of activities being carried out by the Fund in Ethiopia.

The Executive Director commended the Fund’s staff in Ethiopia for the impressive efforts at advancing its mandate and the three transformative results of ending preventable maternal deaths; ending unmet need for family planning; and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices against women and children.

The Executive Director said the next 50 years of UNFPA in Ethiopia should be as phenomenal as the past 50 years, as per the UNFPA country office in Ethiopia.
