Rural economic dev’t, food security Ex-Com meeting held

Addis Ababa, October 26, 2023 (FBC) – The Rural Economic Development and Food Security (RED&FS) Ex-Com Meeting that aims to strengthen the development partners of the government and the agricultural sector held today, the Ministry of Agriculture said.

At the forum, the Rural Economic Development and Food Security Sector Partner Working Group discussed the working process and future focus areas.

During the occasion, the Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente, stated that the mingling of rural economic development and food security is a crucial step for modernizing and digitalizing the agricultural sector.

The Minister emphasized that the sector’s stakeholders must improve the development, protection and utilization of natural resources in order to create a climate-resilient agriculture sector.

The Rural Economic Development and Food Security (RED&FS) Sector Working Group was established in 2008 with the purpose to act as a platform bringing together the Government of Ethiopia, with its Development Partners who are active in the Agriculture Sector.

The RED & FS executive committee discussed on the terms of reference (TOR) and platform of RED & FS for 2023/24 and next-step action.
