UK extends £5.9m support to Ethiopian Red Cross Society

Addis Ababa, September 14, 2023 (FBC) – UK AID in partnership with British Red Cross has launched an agreement worth £5.9 million to support the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS).

UK Ambassador to Ethiopia, Darren Welch and President of ERCS, Abera Tolla have signed the agreement.

Out of the total support, £3.4 has been provided to ERCS in cash while the remaining amount of the support is appropriated for technical assistance.

The support marks a milestone for a new partnership between ERCS and the British Red Cross to help deliver health and WASH support to those most in need, according to the UK Embassy in Addis Ababa.

Moreover, 10 vehicles have been provided to ERCS as part of the partnership.
