Ethiopian Federal Police to resume int’l peacekeeping mission
Addis Ababa, August 28, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Federal Police announced that it has reached an agreement with the United Nations to resume the international peacekeeping mission.
It is stated that the agreement was reached with the United Nations to resume the international peacekeeping mission which was interrupted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and local security issues.
Ethiopian Federal Police Chief Commissioner, General Demelash Gebre-Michael, discussed the implementation of the international peacekeeping mission with UN representatives in Addis Ababa.
In conformance to the agreement, preparatory work has been completed to assess the competence of police officers who have received pre-deployment training at the Ethiopian Police University to resume the international peacekeeping mission.
It was also mentioned that police officers from Ethiopian Federal Police, regional states and the two city administrations as well as the Federal Prison Commission are preparing to take an international peacekeeping mission assessment.
