Japan provides 4.1mln birr support for a school project in Dawro Zone
Addis Ababa, August 21, 2023 (FBC) – On 21 August 2023, the grant contract signing ceremony for “Project for Expansion of Model Primary School in Dawro Zone, SWEPR” was held at the residence of the Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia between ITO Takako and Mulugeta Bezabih, General Manager of Dawro Development Association.
The ceremony was witnessed by Amarech Bekalo, Chairperson of Parliament Standing Committee for Industry and Mining, and Prof. Afework Kassu, Director General, Armauer Hansen Research Institute.
Japan will donate up to USD 76,274, equivalent to ETB 4.1 million, for this project, through the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
Under this project, the Model Primary School will receive one school building with four furnished classrooms and one latrine building for female students.
The implementation of this project will enable all about 500 students to learn in a proper learning environment.
Japan has implemented over 400 projects across Ethiopia since the GGP was introduced in 1989.
