Grade 12 students in Tigray Region to sit Leaving Cert Exam in October

Addis Ababa, August 12, 2023 (FBC) – Grade 12 Ethiopian School-Leaving Certificate Examination (ESLCE) is scheduled to be administered in Tigray Region from October 10 – 13, 2023, according to the Ministry of Education.

The Education Minister of Ethiopia, Prof Birhanu Nega stated that preparations have been well finalized to administer the Grade 12 ESLCE that has been suspended due the coronavirus pandemic and the conflict in the northern parts of the country.

Prof Birhanu said regular classes for primary and secondary schools are going on in the region since 2 May 2023 following the reopening of schools.

On the other hand, the regional Interim Admin education Bureau has announced that 12th grade students have taken remedial classes focused on major subjects as part of the preparation for the leaving examination.

The Bureau also stated that 12th grade exam students are currently taking preparatory classes in four universities located in the region.
