Ethiopia, UK seek enhanced parliamentary cooperation

Addis Ababa, August 11, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia – UK Parliamentary Cooperation Committee discussed ways of enhancing longstanding ties between the two countries during a meeting held on Thursday.

In his remarks on the meeting, Chairperson of the Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs Standing Committee of the House of Peoples Representatives of Ethiopia, Dima Negewo (PhD), said Ethiopia and the UK have been enjoying a longstanding bilateral relationship.

Negewo stressed the need to bolster the ties between the two countries in the areas of trade, economy and investment spheres.

Alicia Kearns, member of the parliament of the UK, for her part, expressed UK’s keen interest to foster partnership with Ethiopia in trade, investment and education sectors.

The two sides further agreed to exchange experiences and promote parliamentary cooperation between Ethiopia and the UK.
