State Minister For MFA Birtukan Ayano Confers With Italian Deputy FM

Addis Ababa, July 26, 2023 (FBC) – State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, conferred with the Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli.

During the meeting the State Minister and the Italian counterpart discuss on ways strengthening ties between Ethiopia and Italy.

Recalling the recent meetings between Prime Ministers, Abiy Ahmed and Giorgia Meloni, State Minister Ambassador Birtukan noted that the meeting between the leaders are testaments to the fact that longstanding Ethiopia-Italy diplomatic relations are being elevated to a higher level.

The State Minister while reiterating Ethiopia’s keen interest to boost the historical relations said, Ethiopia is keen to further expedite cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, regional, defence and intelligence issues of mutual interest.

Deputy FM Cirielli, on his part, expressed the readiness of the Italian Government to closely work with the Government of Ethiopia on further bolstering ties in the areas of investment, trade and development cooperation.

They also have discussed on economic cooperation and peace in the Horn of Africa.
