Rampant Lucys hit Chad national team for six

Addis Ababa, July 13, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s women’s national team, otherwise known as The Lucys today thrashed their Chadian counterparts by six goals to nil.

In the 2024 Paris Olympic women’s football African zone qualifier, the Ethiopian women’s national team welcomed Chad at home in the first leg of their the two-legged tie.

In the match played at Abebe Bikila Stadium, in Addis Abeba, the Lucys dominated and outperformed their opponents as they put six goals past the goalie.

Mesay Temesgen opened the Lucys goal account in the 13th minute, Aregash Kalsa scored the second and 4th goals in the 24th and 63rd minutes, Nardos Getnet scored the third goal in the 36th minute, Redet Asresahegn the fifth in the 79th minute and Nbogn Yen scored the 6th in the 82nd minute.

The second leg of this tie will be played on Sunday 16 July 3:30 PM at the same venue, Abebe Bikila Stadium, in Addis Abeba, the Ethiopian Football Federation confirmed.
