Ethiopia’s health sector exemplar for African countries – Africa CDC DG

Addis Ababa, July 7, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s activities in the health sector in general are exemplar for fellow African countries, said Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of African Disease Prevention and Control (Africa CDC).

The Director General said this after visiting the National Health Exhibition, being held at the Science Museum, in Addis Ababa, today.

A team consisting of Africa CDC leadership and staff led by Dr. Jean Kaseya visited the National Health Fair at the Science Museum, the Ministry of Health-Ethiopia.

Dr. Jean Kaseya stated that the national health exhibition is a great opportunity to promote the effective work that Ethiopia is undertaking in the health sector.

The Ministry mentioned that the Africa CDC Director General was impressed by the work being done in the health sector in Ethiopia while visiting the fair. He said he would recommend other African countries to share these impressive experiences.

Dr. Kaseya mentioned that the implementation of health extension program, development of digital health system, production of new medical equipment in the country and organization of services in health facilities as well as integration system in Ethiopia is a role model for other African nations.

“I feel immensely honored to have had the opportunity to visit the National Health Exhibition hosted by the Ministry of Health, accompanied by my esteemed colleagues from Africa CDC. The exhibition focused on the visionary theme of “Next Generation Health 2023”,” said Dr. Kaseya via a Twitter post.

Organized by the Ministry of Health and Ethiopian Healthcare Federation, the national health exhibition was launched on June 20, 2023, by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD). Since then, it has attracted the attention of thousands of visitors.

It is learned that public and private institutions, organizations engaged in health technology and research institutions are participating in the exhibition.
