ERCS head hails humanitarian partners for benevolent acts
Addis Ababa, July 4, 2023 (FBC) – The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Governing Board Oversetting Committee discussed with Ethiopian Red Cross Society Board members and senior management team.
The visit is aimed at assessing the overall impact of the Ukraine-Russia war, according to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS).
It is mentioned that the team was briefed about the impact of the natural and man-made disasters at the national level.
Ethiopian Red Cross Society Secretary General Getachew Ta’a in his presentation stated that the Society exerted maximum level of effort to provide the required humanitarian response to vulnerable groups.
Mentioning the conflict that took place in the Northern part of the country as a case in point, he emphasized the need for a multifaceted intervention.
The Secretary General stated that nowadays close to 20 million people at national level are in need of urgent humanitarian support.
Had it not been the benevolent act of humanitarian actors, it would have been hard enough to reach out the vulnerable, he added.
The IFRC Governing Board Oversetting Committee also took time for discussion with Ethiopian Red Cross Society Patron & FDRE President, Her Excellency Sahlework Zewdie.
