Addis Ababa City to build 60,000 houses in public-private program
Addis Ababa, June 22, 2023 (FBC) – The Addis Ababa City Administration held a preliminary event where it announced preparations for 60,000 housing units under the public-private partnership program.
According to the Mayor Office of Addis Ababa, the houses will be built and completed within 3 years and handed over to residents.
The housing program is said to create direct employment opportunities for more than 200,000 youths in Addis Ababa.
In her remarks on the prelaunch event, the Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie stated that the housing scheme is associated with the primary interest of the people.
Policy directives and operational guidelines for the cooperation between government and public institutions to be involved in the housing program have been put in place, the Mayor said.
According to the Mayor, out of the 70 private companies that expressed interest in the housing program, Ovid Group has completed its preparations.
Ovid Group is said to have tabled detailed explanation to the administration and the stakeholders to be engaged in housing program.
