IATA’s Focus Africa Conference kicks off in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, June 20, 2023 (FBC) – The International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s Focus Africa Conference 2023 kicked off today at Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, FBC can confirm.
It is indicated that the Focus Africa Conference will delve into six priorities under IATA’s Focus Africa initiative to strengthen aviation’s contribution to the continent’s economic and social development and improve connectivity, safety and reliability for passengers and shippers.
At the opening of the conference, Willie Walsh, Director General of the International Transport Association, Mesfin Tasew, Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines Group, Minister of State for Transport and Logistics of Ethiopia Dhenge Boru, CEOs of African airlines, aviation sector leaders and decision makers, aircraft manufacturers, international and regional airline associations, sector government institutions and other stakeholders were present.
The conference’s session tracks are expected to address safety, aeronautical information management, Intra-African connectivity, airport infrastructure, biometrics and security, modern airline retailing, sustainability, and skilled workforce, it is noted.
It is also stated that the conference brought together airline CEOs along with aviation leaders, decision-makers and influencers representing airlines, airports, government agencies, air navigation service providers, international and regional associations, aviation suppliers, aircraft manufacturers and other stakeholders.
