Chancellor Olaf Scholz to visit Ethiopia: MoFA
Ambassador Mesganu Arga, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with Ambassador Christoph Retzlaff, Director for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Sahel at the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany and discussed bilateral and mutual concerns.
Amb. Mesganu welcomed the upcoming visit of Mr. Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany to Ethiopia, underscoring that frequent high-level visits to Ethiopia will contribute to strengthening relations between Ethiopia and Germany and enhancing the areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The State Minister also highlighted the implementation of the Peace process in Ethiopia, and in tandem with that, the Government is keen to work on transitional justice mechanisms, national dialogue, and attaining accountability in order to create a stable political environment in Ethiopia.
On Sudan, he said Ethiopia wants to see a stable and peaceful Sudan. Mesganu strongly believes the conflict should be resolved through dialogue.
Ethiopia strongly condemns the interference of external actors and encourages AU and IGAD efforts to facilitate dialogue among conflicting parties, he added.
Ambassador Christoph Retzlaff, for his part, appreciated the progress of the implementation of the peace agreement and the establishment of an interim administration in the Tigray region.
