PM Abiy Ahmed visits Fasiledes Palace in Gondar

Addis Ababa, April 1, 2023 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has visited Fasiledes Palace, one of the UNESCO inscribed historical heritages located in Gondar City.

During the visit, Prime Minister Abiy said, “this place holds  the most wonderful art and handicrafts made by our forefathers”

“Fasiledes, Axum, Lalibela and other ancient artifacts show how our fathers were capable of consolidating knowledge and wisdom” he said.

“Fasiledes Castle shows that there were people who were enlightened and could see the unseen.”

He also stated that the decision to use the income generated from the sale of the ‘Medemer’ Book for the maintenance of Fasiledes is in line with the idea that “even if we are not able to make such a heritage, we have to renovate and pass on it to the next generation.”

The Prime Minister expressed his optimism that the palace will be preserved for generations to come.
