Ethiopia, Japan ink cooperation agreement in horticulture dev’t
Addis Ababa, March 28, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Japan have signed today to work in cooperation in horticulture development, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA Ethiopia) confirmed.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Horticulture, Melese Mekonnen and Morihara Kasuki, Representative of the Japan International Development Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ethiopia country office.
It is stated that the Small Holder Farmers Empowerment Project has been implemented in the Amhara and Oromia region in its first phase.
Today’s contract is signed for the second phase to be implemented the Southern Ethiopia and Sidama regions.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister of State has appreciated the intent of the Japanese government to work with the Ethiopian government on horticulture development.
JICA Ethiopia office representative, Morihara Kasuki, said that the project will continue to support small holder farmers in horticulture development.
