Ethiopia, the Netherlands announce launch of Nedamco Africa’s ground-breaking initiative
Addis Ababa, March 23, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia and the Netherlands have reached an agreement to work in collaboration in the water management system.
Water and Energy Minister of Ethiopia, Habtamu Itefa met with Director General for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Kitty van der Heijden on the sidelines of the New York Water Week 2023 to discuss Nedamco Africa’s ground-breaking initiative.
Following the discussion, the two sides have announced the launch of Nedamco Africa’s ground-breaking initiative to improve water management for the metropolitan area of Addis Ababa.
The initiative aims to reduce non-revenue water, increase water quality, and improve access to water by leveraging digital technology.
The initiative has the potential to be rolled out to over nineteen other countries in fifty-five cities, improving the water needs of half a billion people.
This project is to be carried out in collaboration between the Ethiopian local and federal government, Microsoft, Bentley Systems, VEI, and is endorsed by the Dutch Government.
