DPM & FM Demeke arrives in Azerbaijan to participate in the Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement

Addis Ababa, March 1, 2023 (FNC) – The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, today in Baku, Capital of Azerbaijan.

DPM & FM Demeke has arrived in Baku to participate in the Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, which will commence tomorrow.

In their discussion, the two sides emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral relationships and build upon the growing ties between the two countries by cooperating in multilateral fora.

DPM & FM Demeke Mekonen said that Ethiopia is interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan in defense and security, capacity building through technology, and the public sector, further inviting Azerbaijani investors to participate in investment options.

Azerbaijan’s FM appreciated Ethiopia’s responsible leadership in resolving the conflict in northern Ethiopia peacefully. He also said that Azerbaijan will continue to sponsor Ethiopian students to study in the country’s higher education institutions.
