Ethiopia, Czech Republic keen on deepening sustainable cooperation
Addis Ababa, January 31, 2023 (FBC) – Czech Ambassador to Ethiopia, Miroslav Kosek, met with State Minister of Finance, Semereta Sewasew, according to Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Embassy said that the two sides discussed the current and future engagement of the Czech Development Cooperation in Ethiopia.
It is stated that within the framework of foreign development cooperation (ODA), the Czech Republic has been operating in Ethiopia to a greater extent since 2001, according to the Embassy.
Based on the Strategy of Foreign Development Cooperation for the period 2018 to 2030, the Czech Republic has selected six priority partner countries where it realize long-term projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Ethiopia, Georgia, Cambodia, Moldova and Zambia, the Embassy added.
Following the decision of the Czech Government, a Memorandum of Understanding on Development Cooperation was signed on 16 February 2018 between the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. An integral part of the MoU is the bilateral Development Cooperation Program for the period 2018-2023, the Embassy further added.
Accordingly, the Czech Development Cooperation consists of instruments of engagements bilateral projects, trilateral projects, aid for trade projects, humanitarian aid, small local projects and government scholarships for developing countries
