Ethiopia’s domestic revenue upsurges by 28.9 pct: MoPD
Addis Ababa, January 30, 2023 (FBC) – The Federal government’s domestic revenue has upturned by 28.9 percent, compared to the same period in the previous financial year’s performance, said the FDRE Minister of Planning and Development, Fitsum Asefa.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his cabinet reviewed the 2022/23 fiscal year first six months performance of Ethiopia’s macroeconomic sector.
The Ministry of Planning and Development indicated that the total revenue of Ethiopia has increased by 28.9 percent compared to the same period last year owing to the encouraging works undertaken by the government.
It was stated that 222 billion Birr was obtained from tax and non-tax revenues in the last six months, more than the government’s plan to collect 172.2 billion Birr. The tax revenue was also more than the initial plan, according to the Minister.
