DPM & FM Demeke appreciates Uhuru Kenyatta’s pivotal role for success of Ethiopian peace accord
Addis Ababa, November 30, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, appreciated the pivotal role played by the former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta for the successful conclusion of the Ethiopian peace talks in Pretoria and Nairobi.
DPM and FM Demeke met with Alfred Mutua, the new Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, today (November 30) in Khartoum.
During the discussion held on the margins of the IGAD Council of Ministers 48th ordinary session, Demeke expressed appreciation to the Republic of Kenya mentioning the role former President Uhuru Kenyatta played for the success of the peace process.
He reaffirmed that the Ethiopian government is fully committed to the implementation of the agreement.
Alfred, on his part, said that Ethiopian friendship holds a special place in Kenya and its contribution to the peace process is a manifestation of this relationship.
The two nations can enhance their economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and investment, he added.
Concluding the discussion, the Ministers agreed to strengthen the bilateral and multilateral friendship, as per MFA Ethiopia.
