China donates vehicles, security equipment worth $600,000 to Ethiopian Federal Police
Addis Ababa, November 29, 2022 (FBC) – The Chinese government has provided the Ethiopian Federal Police with vehicles and security equipment including five Corolla Cross patrol vehicles, a bullet-proof vehicle, a Communication Upgrading System and Digital Forensic Laboratory Equipment worth more than 600, 000 USD. Donation also included cash assistance.
Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Zhao Zhiyuan handed over the donation to Commissioner General of the Ethiopian Federal Police Demelash Gebremichael at the federal police headquarters in Addis Ababa.
During the handover ceremony, the Commissioner General lauded the longstanding bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and China, highlighting significance of the donation of the technological equipment to the Federal Police in accelerating economic growth, promoting trade and ensuring safety and security to investments in the country.
According to the Commissioner General, terrorism, piracy and other cross-border organized crimes are not only security threats but also cause losses to investment and economic growth.
Ambassador Zhiyuan on his part noted that the relationship between Ethiopia and China has lasted for many centuries, pledging commitment of his government to continue similar supports to the Federal Police to back the ongoing reforms by the institute.
