DPM & FM Demeke meets with EU’s Special Representative to HoA
Addis Ababa, November 17, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, held discussion with the European Union’s Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber.
According to the Spokesperson Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, their discussion focused on the Pretoria and Nairobi peace accord and regional issues.
During the discussion, DPM & FM Demeke recalled that the Ethiopian government has been committed for peace agreement to resolve the conflict in the north peacefully, expressing that it is always committed to the implementation of the agreement.
In addition, he mentioned that humanitarian aid is being provided to the citizens in conflict-affected areas.
The DPM & FM also confirmed that the government is accelerating works for restoration of basic services in the areas affected by the conflict.
Demeke mentioned that the government will hold political discussions with the concerned parties to solve the security issues in different parts of the country.
Discussions will be held on various agendas through the National Dialogue Conference, he said.
DPM & FM Demeke expressed his gratitude to partners that supported the signing of the peace agreement.
He, then, called on Ethiopia’s partners to strengthen their cooperation during the implementation of the peace agreement, rebuilding and rehabilitation process.
On her part, EU’s Special Representative to the HoA, Annette Weber, pointed out that the agreement reached is historic.
She reiterated that the European Union will play its part to the implementation of peace agreement and rebuilding process.
