Africans shall scale up ties to utilize natural resources potential for dev’t: President Sahle-Work
Addis Ababa, November 8, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE President, Sahle-Work Zewde, said that Africans must further strengthen their fraternity to realize the continent’s growth with its massive natural resources potential.
At the opening of the 6th African Engineering Conference at the 8th African Engineers Week, being held in Addis Ababa, the President said that the demand and supply of infrastructure in the continent is growing rapidly.
Although Africa has natural resources that could enable it to develop and prosper, the inability to work together has been a big challenge, she stated.
The President underlined that the relationship among Africans should grow further in order for the continent to be able to utilize its potential.
President Sahle-Work, who stated that the African Engineers Conference has a significant role in connecting Africa through infrastructure, emphasized that this type of forum should be organized on a regular basis.
Ethiopia has shown that African engineers can change the continent by building Sheger and Friendship Park projects with local engineers.
Engineer Yonas Ayalew, Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation, said that the conference will help the construction of infrastructure in Africa to be fast and quality by creating a healthy spirit of competition among engineers.
