Ethiopians stage nationwide rallies protesting foreign interventions
Addis Ababa, October 22, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopians have staged demonstrations in major cities and towns including Addis Ababa, Adama, Ambo, Jimma, Hawassa and Bonga under the Motto “We Speakout for Ethiopia” to denounce the undue pressure of the West on the nation.
Hundreds of thousands of really goers have participated in the demonstrations to protest interventions of the western powers in internal affairs of the country and show solidarity with the government in ensuring law and order in the country.
Besides residents, representatives of political parties, community leaders and public figures have participated in the rallies.
In the capital Addis Ababa, thousands flocked to the Meskel Square waving tri colors of the nation and chanting slogans that praise the gallantry of the army and the unwavering unity of Ethiopians against enemies.
Public open spaces and squares in Adama, Jimma and Hawassa cities have also seen big gatherings of people who called on the West to hold the terrorist TPLF accountable for the atrocities committed on innocent civilians. They also called for disarmament of the terrorist group in order to ensure lasting peace in Ethiopia.
Rally goers also appreciated the measures the government is taking place to resolve the conflict peacefully and step up delivery of humanitarian assistance to people in need in Tigray and other areas in the northern part of the country.
Slogans that were chanted by the demonstrators include “Respect Our Sovereignty”, “No two parallel armies in a sovereign state”, “Stop interventions in the name of humanitarian assistance”, “No More Proxy War”, among others.
