Ethiopia Promotes Specialty Coffee at SCAJ2022 Event in Japan
Addis Ababa, October 19, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopia has successfully promoted its specialty coffee at the SCAJ World Specialty Coffee Conference and Exhibition 2022 (SCAJ 2022), organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan.
This year’s event was hosted in Tokyo Big Sight by a host of coffee growers, exporters, importers, and processors from across the world who exhibited their products and services to tens of thousands of coffee consumers who visited the exhibition and attended conferences within the expo centre.
Tefera Derbew, Ethiopia’s Ambassdor to Japan, joined Ambassadors of Coffee Exporting Countries in a ribbon-cutting ceremony that heralded the colorful opening of the.
More than 40 Ethiopian coffee exporters, along with the management of the Ethiopian Coffee Association (ECA) and the Ethiopian Chamber of Sectoral Associations (ECSA), participated in the event.
The exporters and the management, with the support and guidance of the Embassy, successfully promoted Ethiopian specialty coffee by showcasing a variety of Ethiopian specialty coffee beans; exhibiting a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony; showing a visual and video explanation of Ethiopian specialty coffee; and attracting visitors to coffee tasting at the Ethiopian booth.
Ethiopian coffee exporters also held a business-to-business meeting on a one-on-one basis with Japanese importers of Ethiopian specialty coffee.
Ambassador Tefera stressed that Ethiopia, as a leading coffee exporter, will only receive its fair share of export earnings from the sector if it is aggressively promoted to buyers and consumers.
In the event, team Ethiopia has managed to impart to a multitude of visitors the fact that Ethiopia is the origin of coffee, known by the outside world as “coffee arabica”.
It also showed the organic content of Ethiopian coffee beans and the distinctive aroma and unique taste of Ethiopian brewed coffee.
SCAJ World Specialty Coffee Conference and Exhibition, Asia’s largest international trade fair dedicated to coffee, is a global annual event that attracts a host of coffee producers, exporters, importers, and processors to promote their products and services and interact with consumers in an august exhibition and conference setting, as per MFA Ethiopia.
