Ethiopia receives 185mln Birr support from Japan for healthcare service

Addis Ababa, September 28, 2022 (FBC) – Ministry of Finance – Ethiopia (MoF) confirmed that it has received financial support from the Japanese government worth US$3.5 million (185 million birr) to purchase vehicles that provide mobile medical services.

These mobile vehicle clinics are accoutered with electrocardiograph, ultrasound and other contemporary medical equipment.

The purchase of the vehicles is expected to benefit mainly women who live far from healthcare facilities, mainly in Afar, Somali, Benshangul Gumuz, Gambella and pastoral areas of South West Ethiopia region.

State Minister of Finance, Mrs Semerita Sewasew and Mrs. Ito Takako, Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia signed the aid agreement.
