PM Abiy commends cotton farm development in Afar region

Addis Ababa, September 21, 2022 (FBC) – FDRE Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed labeled the cotton farm development and untapped agricultural potential in Afar region ‘a new reality’.

PM Abiy, accompanied by federal and regional officials, visited the cotton and fruit farms in the Middle Awash area, Afar region.

The premier stated on twitter, “Identifying potential around us is essential. 20,000 hectares of cotton in middle awash is a new reality for an area in the Afar region that was once prone to flooding.”

He also praised the fruit potential of the area is being untapped through enhanced irrigation systems.
