Collective efforts needed to overcome challenges in Labor and skills sector: MoLS

Addis Ababa, August 16, 2022 (FBC) – Labor and skills sector is a field with many opportunities and challenges, which requires the participation and activity of all parties to withstand the bottlenecks and become productive, Muferihat Kamil, Minister of Labor and Skills.

The Ministry of Labor and Skills has organized the second National Job Summit with a motto of “Sustainable job for a bright future” attended by Demeke Mekonon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other senior government officials.

In the previous budget year, 2058 centers were planned to be identified in each level, and 1847 centers were identified, and they are being recognized and prized today.

Furthermore, the employees working in each of these center services, who have done effective work have also been recognized and rewarded.

On the other hand, more than 260 business ideas have been proposed via a 3-minute video, and are identified based on the call for competition presented months ago by the Ministry. Of all the proposed business ideas, three winners were recognized and rewarded at this event.

According to the Minister, this event has been organized to recognize best performers of the sector to inspire and motivate others.

She has also revealed that the event is a platform designed to honor those who have gone through the process and achieved tangible results and become the best among many others. 

The Minister claimed that, in the previous year, the sector has started implementing lateral and hierarchical collective procedures, and a fertile condition has also been created to implement new and more private sector participation systems.
