Ethiopia expresses gratitude to Cuba for its unwavering support at UN forums
Addis Ababa, May 11, 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Cuba, Genet Teshome has presented his copy of his credentials to Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Eduardo Rodriguez Perdomo.
Presenting his credentials, Ambassador Genet Teshome thanked Cuba for its unwavering support to Ethiopia at the United Nations.
Ambassador Genet Teshome briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on current situation in Ethiopia and issues related to the situation in the Horn of Africa. He also explained to the Deputy Minister on the third year filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Eduardo Rodriguez Perdomo, for his part, said the relationship between Ethiopia and Cuba is the ancient and historical in its kind.
He also expressed gratitude for Ethiopia for its support to Cuba in opposing the sanctions imposed on his country.
Cuban soldiers fought alongside Ethiopian troops during the War for Ogaden in 1977 when Siyad Barree of Somalia invaded eastern part of the country. The country also delivered a wide range of support to Ethiopia in the health and education sector.
