Ethiopian Catholic Church unveils a 135mln birr project for conflict-affected communities
Addis Ababa, March 25, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Catholic Church has announced a 135 million birr aimed to rehabilitate conflict affected communities in the country.
Launching the HRR project, Ethiopian Catholic Church Cardinal Berhaneyesus Surafel applauded the Declaration of Humanitarian Truce by the government of Ethiopia. He said: “We felt happy hearing such kind of decision and we are praying for the world and Ethiopia’s peace.”
The church stated that more than 227,000 conflict affected people and communities that host IDPs in Tigray, Afar and Amhara regions will benefit from the project.
Secretary General of the Ethiopian Catholic Church said that the project is tailored to provide basic suppli3s to vulnerable communities in areas impacted by the war, adding that the church has been implementing several development initiatives in several parts of the country.
