U.S. Rep. Don Beyer opposes RH6600 draft bill
Addis Ababa, March 10, 2022 (FBC) – The U.S. representative for Virginia’s 8th Congressional District, Don Beyer has rejected RH6600 draft bill as a bad piece of legislation that undermines the peace process in Ethiopia.
“I think it would make it much more difficult to get peace and we don’t want it to pass. It’s hard to get anything to pass the House or the Senate, but when there’s opposition within a party, and I will be leading the opposition on the Democratic side, I think there’s a really good chance that we can stop it before it ever gets to committee,” he the representative vowed.
Don Beyer added saying: “I have really disagreed with the trade policy that is taking Ethiopia out of AGOA. AGOA was a crucial trade agreement that helps people buy Ethiopian goods from all over the world, he said.
HR6600 is a bad piece of legislation introduced to sanction Ethiopia and its government, he underlined.
