Ethiopia-Kenya solid diplomatic relations should extend to the economic sector – Amb Meles
Addis Ababa, February 18, 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Kenya, Meles Alem confered with a business delegation led by, Samuel Matonda, the CEO for the Kenyan National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) yesterday.
The Ambassador received the CEO and his team and deliberated on various areas of enhancing investment and trade relations between Ethiopia and Kenya.
Discussions mainly focused among others on creating partnerships between chambers, trade mission exchanges as well as innovative ways of working together on attracting and balancing the business inflows between two countries.
Commending the strong fraternal bonds that transcended generations, Ambassador Meles, stressed the fact that the solid political and diplomatic relations that the two countries enjoy should also extend to the economic sector. He also reiterated the need to work together with a sense of partnership.
Samuel Matonda on his part, while commending the unprecedented opportunities borne by the commissioning of the LAPSSET Corridor Project and the Moyale One-Stop-Border-Post in line with the AfCFTA, emphasized the need to establish a Joint Business Council with its Ethiopian counterpart that realizes the business on the ground and suggested for joint partnerships with several actors on investment, trade and tourism that strengthens the two economies.
