35th AU Summit wraps up with various decisions, directives towards prioritized areas
Addis Ababa, February 6, 2022 (FBC) – The 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of Government and State has been wrapped up successfully passing various decision and directives towards several areas of priority.
While closing the session with his remarks, Chairperson of the African Union and President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall appreciated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for his warm welcome and contribution for successfulness of the Summit despite challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
He called for leaders and people of the African continent to strive together to ensure peace and security and fight violence, terrorism and violence and unconstitutional change of governments.
He said that Inter-Africa trade, economic integration, infrastructure development, energy transformation, health, eduction, consolidation of financial institutions and universal electricity is among the areas that have given priorities for future endeavors to realize better Africa.
Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, for his part, said that violence, unconstitutional change of government and related undemocratic activities are unacceptable move that should be strongly condemned, calling all for the realization of peaceful and prosperous Africa.
