Council of Ministers passes decisions on various agenda

Addis Ababa, December 29, 2021 (FBC) – The Council of Ministers, during its 3rd regular session, discussed on various agenda and passed decisions accordingly.

The Council of Ministers passed a resolution on draft proclamation to approve expenditure adjustment and supplementary budget in addition to the 561.7 billion Birr that has been allocated so far for 2021/2022 budget year.

Council also discussed an agenda set to introduce a revised petroleum price adjustment and subsidy policy and passed a decision and referred it to the house for approval.

According to the Office of the Prime Minster, the council passed a resolution on petroleum products pricing and profit margins draft bill that will replace the previous one that has been in place during the last 25 years. Council decides to make the regulation effective after approved by the House of Peoples Representatives.

Council also passed a decision that would enable the Mines and Petroleum Ministry to sign agreements with eight companies that will carry out charcoal development activities in Ethiopia.

The council discussed a draft proclamation aimed to realize equitable community based health insurance system. Council passed a resolution on this draft bill and referred it to the House of Peoples Representatives for approval.

Finally, the council deliberated on draft law introduced to regulate objectives and mission of Ethiopian Investment Holdings which is tasked to incorporate public resources under a single institution and create effective administrative system for the companies. The council has decided to make the law effective after it is published on the Federal Negarit Gazette.
