PM Abiy Ahmed welcomes Diaspora to homeland over #GreatEthiopianHomeComing

Addis Ababa, December 27, 2021 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has welcomed Ethiopian Diaspora returning home in response to the #GreatEthiopianHomeComing Challenge that he had announced so far.

“A nation can be symbolized with an extended family. Strengthen of foundation of a family is identified during trying season rather than jovial times. Tribulation helps members of some families to form bond while it forces others to fall apart,” the Prime Minister noted.

On the contrary, the bond of members of a family with firm foundation is strengthened during trying times. Even if there are differences between them, members of the strong family put aside their disparities and explore ways hot to bring solution to the problem they face with. Each member contributes its part for the solution. They go through the ups together and finally share the happiness after the problem is overcome.

“This is the time when Ethiopia is tested a lot as a nation. Ethiopia’s enemies have left no stone unturned in order to agitate her. But, Ethiopia thrives with help of collaboration between her daughters and sons. Tribulations have made unity of its children stronger and stronger. The troubles have enabled Ethiopia to leverage its resources,” the Prime Minister underlined.

Ethiopian Diaspora living all over the world have shown strong solidarity with their country in times of need. They defended interests of their Ethiopia when some had tried to cloud realities on the ground in the country with disinformation and impose pressures in the country, he said.

They knocked the doors of politicians, held huge pro-government rallies, confronted misguided policies of some leaders and pushed the media to report the truth in the country. They advocated for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and send money for the construction of the dam, and extended support to people in need of humanitarian assistance, the Premier indicated.

Prime Minister Abiy underscored that many countries benefited in political, economic and diplomacy sectors from the strong linkage they created with their Diaspora abroad, adding that South Korea, India, China and Mexico have undertaken exemplary works in this regard.

The Prime Minister further called up on members of the Diaspora community who have returned home to visit impacted areas and support Ethiopians who have been affected by the TPLF aggression, and investigate the extent of the atrocities committed by the terrorist group and expose them to the rest of the world upon their return to the countries where they live.
