Planned UN Human Rights Council’s Special session implies organization’s partiality: GCS

Addis Ababa, December 15, 2021 (FBC) – In a press briefing held on Wednesday, the Government Communications Service underscored that the planned UN Human Rights Council Special session implies organization’s partiality and its being an agent of hidden political intentions.

The Government Communications Service State Minister, while briefing journalist on current situation, said that the plan of the UN Human Rights Council to hold a special session on Ethiopia brings many things into question, and clearly shows partiality of the organization.

The rush to the special session doesn’t consider what Ethiopia has been undertaking to contain circumstances, and it is incommensurate with the realities in the country, the State Minister explained.

According to the State Minister, the plan for the special session is unjust for it came at a time when Ethiopia is preparing to implement recommendations included in the report of the joint investigation conducted by the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in to alleged human rights abuses.

It is regrettable that the UN Human Rights Council has turned deaf ear to the atrocities committed by the terrorist TPLF against innocent civilians in Amhara and Afar Regions, Kebede added.
