Three Scientists Win Jointly Nobel Prize in Physics 2021

Addis Ababa, October 5, 2021 (FBC) – The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced today that three scientists have won the 2021 Nobel Prize in physics.

The laureates are Syukuro Manabe (PhD) of Princeton University, USA, a Japanese national; Klaus Hasselmann (PhD) of Max Plank Institute for Meteorology, Germany, a German; and Giorgio Parisi (PhD) of Sapienza University, Rome, an Italian.

The academy in its press release states that the laureates share “the Prize in Physics for their studies of chaotic and apparently random phenomena.”

It adds that “Syukuro Manabe and Klaus Hasselmann laid the foundation of our knowledge of the Earth’s climate and how humanity influences it. Giorgio Parisi is rewarded for his revolutionary contributions to the theory of disordered materials and random processes”.

The 10 million Swedish kronor prize is shared: with one half jointly to Syukuro Manabe and Klaus Hasselmann, and the other half to Giorgio Parisi.
